Tips to Determine Your School District
For information regarding individual schools within a school district, we suggest you call the school district involved. Since school district boundaries may be different from town boundaries, home buyers should confirm with the appropriate school district as to which schools their children will attend. The Marin County Office of Education has suggested the following procedure for determining the school district of a property:

  1. Generally speaking, you can call the local school district and confirm that the address is in that school district.
  2. If the address of the property is not on the border of two districts it is usually easy to determine the district.
  3. If the school district is uncertain, a method for determining the district is by use of the Tax Rate Area Code found on the property tax bill. Once the code for the property is established, you can refer to the Tax Rate Area Chart to establish the school district.
  4. The telephone number of the Marin County Assessor's Office at the Civic Center is (415) 499-7215. Information can be obtained over the phone. Give them the address, parcel number, and tax rate area code of the property in question and they will tell you the school district for that tax rate area code.
  5. Once the school district is established, call the school district office for information about specific school attendance areas.
  6. For further assistance call the Marin County Office of Education at (415) 472-4110.
