Larkspur California

Larkspur CA was named after misidentified blue wild flowers, which were actually lupine, not larkspur. Larkspur includes the Larkspur Landing Shopping Center and Bon Air Center. Larkspur and Corte Madera are sometimes referred to as the "Twin Cities," since they share one police department and an excellent school district (Larkspur School District). The historic Larkspur Boardwalk consists of homes made from arks (barges or houseboats) which are permanently beached on the mud flats. Access to these homes is by boardwalk over the surrounding wetlands. The newly invigorated downtown is home to many excellent restaurants. Homes in Larkspur tend to be limited in supply, and many are small in size. There are a few subdivisions, but mainly older homes, many of which have been remodeled and expanded. Mt. Tamalpais and its hiking/biking trails are a popular weekend destination.
